Lambert Smith Hampton is tasked with finding premises of between 45,000 and 60,000 sq ft in London on a freehold or long leasehold basis.

The premises will need to include at least 30,000 sq ft of studio space, as well as medical and sports facilities, teaching suites and public space.  Housing to accommodate up to 80 students during term times is also required.

English National Ballet and English National Ballet School seek to move into their new home within the next four years.

Lambert Smith Hampton will also be responsible for disposing of English National Ballet’s existing facilities at Jays Mews, SW7.

World class facilities

Ezra Nahome, CEO of Lambert Smith Hampton, said: “This is an incredibly exciting project for everyone involved.  The new home for English National Ballet and English National Ballet School will become the first combined training and dance facility in the UK, and provide both organisations with world-class facilities to match their world-class reputations.

“The two organisations have a strong tradition of integrating closely with their local communities, and that approach will continue to guide their activities in the future.  They have the potential to help to transform the area surrounding their new home in much the same way that the relocation of Central Saint Martins has given King’s Cross a major boost.

“Lambert Smith Hampton has a strong track record of supporting clients in arts, culture and sport, having recently worked extensively with organisations such as the BBC, ITV and Tottenham Hotspur FC.”

A true powerhouse

Justin Bickle, Chairman of English National Ballet, said: “Our ambition is to be the most exciting and creative ballet company in the UK but our existing premises are no longer fit for purpose. Moving to new premises with English National Ballet School will help us to create a true powerhouse in the dance world.

“Our new building will be more than bricks and mortar but a solid manifestation of our vision for the future.  We see our new home becoming a focal point for ballet in London and beyond.”

Steve Sacks, Chairman of English National Ballet School, said: “We are excited about the opportunity of creating a cultural hub that combines the creation of innovative work with world-class teaching.  Our vision is for an open building that is a hub for discovery, learning and engagement and we are keen to encourage the public into our new home.”
