Our Planning, Development & Regeneration team has been appointed by the Black Country Authorities to undertake a strategic study to gauge the economic health of its town centres and inform future planning policies for the Black Country’s centres.

The focus of the study is on the four strategic centres of Wolverhampton, Walsall, West Bromwich and Brierley Hill, comprising 17 town centres and 93 district and local centres.

The study will help identify the key issues facing the town centres and form part of the evidence base informing the future development strategies for the town centres, including the Black Country Plan which is currently being prepared by the Black Country Authorities.

National Head of Planning, Development & Regeneration at LSH, Dr. Steven Norris said:

“This is an important study which will inform the future of the Black Country centres. It builds on our experience on advising on successful town centre regeneration, transformation and renaissance in an increasingly challenging environment.”

Planning Lead for the Black Country Plan and Deputy Chief Executive for Dudley MBC, Alan Lunt said:

The appointment comes just weeks after LSH published its joint research with retail property organisation Revo, which looks at the barriers and enablers of successful town centre regeneration.
